[quote:Anonymous Coward 1185588:MV8yMDQzMzUwXzM0NDIwNTExXzZDMTE3NTIy] [quote:Scarbedazzles:MV8yMDQzMzUwXzM0NDIwNDA1XzczQTVFQTRE] [quote:PhilQPigeon:MV8yMDQzMzUwXzM0MzM1MTMyX0Q3OUMwN0ZD] I would say it is somewhat co-incidental, the mayans used a base 20 number system, not a 10 base system like we do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_numerals
My take on it is this... You are right, however, which ever number system you use, a repeating pattern is still a repeating pattern. Its just like everything in the universe.... numbers and mathmatic properties are the basis for everything. So no matter what... there is something significant about his find. I have no idea what... because even our own calander has repetitive properties... but we were too stupid/lazy to keep from having to have a leap year. It won't be long before we find out though...
of course numbers repeat when you arbitrarily pluck out intervals of a thousand. check this out: 2 + 2 = 4 2(1000) + 2(1000) = 4000 it's like there's some kind of PATTERN involved in the concept of a NUMERICAL SYSTEM. What a find!
ITEM: One possible reason to not worry at all about any of this:
Guatemala's Mayan people accused the government and tour groups on Wednesday of perpetuating the myth that their calendar foresees the imminent end of the world for monetary gain.
"We are speaking out against deceit, lies and twisting of the truth, and turning us into folklore-for-profit. They are not telling the truth about time cycles," charged Felipe Gomez, leader of the Maya alliance Oxlaljuj Ajpop.
