I have what is called a 'mission critical' job. I am not allowed to leave my desk my entire shift. All of my shifts are at least 8 hours. Many of my shifts are 12 hours or more. Some are up to 18 hours (and in the past even longer - I have worked a 22 hour shift).
I am not allowed to leave for lunch. I have to sit at my desk. I am not allowed to step outside for fresh air. The only time I am allowed to leave my desk is if I have to go to the bathroom.
This has been going on for 12 years. Problem is, these rules have been given to me verbally. I do not have written proof that these rules exist.
Should I speak to a lawyer and what do you think he can actually do for me?
