Why isn't every intersection in the US a roundabout instead of a stupid traffic light? It would save billions of barrels of gas a year.

They have installed lots of round abouts here and they are so vastly superior in every concievable way to stupid, outdated traffic lights. The don't require electrical power, you almost NEVER have to wait at one, no matter how much traffic there is. All these people sitting at stop lights, are burning billions of barrels of gas up a year. you use the most gas when you have to slow down, then re-accelerate your 3000lb vehicle. When the traffic is constantly being moved through the intersection, no traffic ever builds up.
