Original Message I'm interested in fringe stuff and conspiracy theories, but I find it frustrating having to waste time watching videos when I could be speed-reading text, instead.

If you have something to tell people, isn't it better to post it as text instead posting it as a "talking head" video filled with (often) disorganized talk, unnecessary video effects and music? Some videos are, in fact, nothing but crappy special effects, music and scrolling text. Why bother with a video at all?

Text is easy to skim through and see if it's at all interesting. With a video, you'll end up skipping back and forth trying to find the interesting bits buried in a boring "talking head" show.

And believe me, I haven't seen a single photogenic person in such a video!
