Wrong.  It wasn't the US.  The deal was sealed back in 1917 with the Balfour Declaration - between the Rothschild bankers and the U.K. government.

The UK controlled the Palestine territories, and the Rothschilds bargained for the territory later to be known as Israel as payment for inducing the US to enter the First World War.
