Get a Marlin .22 semi auto with a scope. $150 bucks brand new. It holds 18 rounds. It's as quiet as an air rifle and can be made totally silent with an 18oz pop bottle. It'll drop a deer with the right shot. And you can get a box of 500 rounds for about $12 bucks at Wal*Marrt. You can sell blood and afford this weapon. Perfect for everything. Especially a SHTF scenario. If you have money later then yes get a bigger caliber. But for the money, you can't go wrong with this purchase.
really. not much stopping power here. i like the ops idea.
Stopping power is a myth. 99% of people would never get in a situation where 'stopping power' would even be needed. Take it from a combat vet. If you're coming at me, I will stop you with a .22 all day long and ill do it from a 100 yards.
Tell that to the tens of thousands of people who confront burglars and home invaders every year. If I can't get to my 12 Gauge, either Dirty Harry (44mag), or my 45 ACP is within reach. We have several 22s, but that caliber is not what will greet any uninvited guests to my home.
In my opinion, you can't beat an H&R Pardner 12 gauge coupled with a EAA Witness .45 ACP/.22lr Combo. You get essentially two high quality handguns and a 12 gauge pump-action for what you'd expect to pay for just one big-name pistol. Btw, Tanfoglio (EAA in America) supplies many military and police in many countries and have been around since the 40's making high quality firearms.
For those on low budgets, that's a lot of firepower for not so much money. No I'm not a dealer or have any financial interest in providing the info. Just sharing thoughts on good value for the money in firearms.
