I once put shit like you're talking about on my cat and IT ALMOST KILLED HIM! He had allergic reaction to it, started drooling (took 3 days to effect him), mouth all swollen, etc. Vet couldnt' figure out what was wrong, and said he had "Feline HIV Aides" and to put him down! I said HELL NO!!! Took him home (broken hearted - I LOVE HIM!) to try to figure out what to do....still had LOTS of fleas. I used Borax (THAT WORKS, TOO!) I finally figured out that he had had an allergic reaction to that shit, and found a "cure" on-line to give him Activated Charcoal. IT WORKED!!! He survived! Then I discovered Diatomaceous Earth (FOOD GRADE), and now I sprinkle a little on them (LOTS of cats!!) about once a month. NO MORE FLEAS!!! You can sprinkle it where they lay, etc. and it will keep all kinds of pests aaway. Use only the Food Grade one so that when or if they lick it off themselves, it can't hurt them. In fact, when we adopted one abandoned cat, she had tapeworms, and fed her a teaspoon of DE everyday for a month, and NO MORE TAPEWORMS!!! The stuff is great. Research it.
I'm glad your cat survived!!! Was it Advantix?
Advantix is highly!!! toxic to cats. It can kill them if they come into direct contact with it. They lack an enzyme which helps to metabolize pyrethrins.
I am afraid to use Advatix on my dog because of that extra ingredient i.e. pesticide that makes it toxic to cats. I dont' have any cats, but you know, you can punch up horror stories on dogs having kidney failure to fatal seizures about this stuff on the internet. Also plenty of peoople that use it fine with no problems - regularly.
I have a 37 lb., nine year old cocker and have applied Frontline with no results and now her skin is quite irritated and she wearing herself out with discomfort from the fleas. Vet is a young girl just outta college cuz my regular vet is on vaca. She urged me to give dog Benadryl and use Advantix.
Anyone have any personal experiences or thoughts on Advantix please share.
Thanks.
