Original Message For the past 10 years, I was a regular viewer of porn.

4 weeks ago, I quit (and I feel much better for having done it).

Since then, I've been trying to keep my mind pure and avoid exposing myself to other forms of entertainment that disrespect women, but it's difficult. It seems like I can't turn to one of the popular TV channels for longer than 5 minutes before some sort of sexual innuendo will be introduced.

For instance, take late-night talk shows. It seems like any time there's a female guest, the host will first compliment her on how great she looks (which seems somewhat innocent), but then he'll make some crass joke about how revealing her clothing is. The guest isn't innocent either, as she'll usually have some story a few minutes later during the interview that's in some way related to sex.

A couple months ago, a famous actress (Jennifer Love Hewitt) engaged in a rather lengthy conversation about decorating her private parts with jewelry. That is NOT an exaggeration. Just now, Kate Beckinsale made a joke about spreading her legs open in one of her new movies. The other day, Kristen Stewart explained her cigarette addiction by saying that she "wanted something in [her] mouth".

Was it always like this? Maybe I just didn't notice because my mind was always flooded with sex (in the form of porn) until now. Before that, I grew up in the 1980s and maybe I was too young to notice, but I have noticed more and more sex everywhere in popular culture since then. Was it like this in the 1950s, 1960s, or 1970s?

I miss the innocent "I Love Lucy" and "Brady Bunch" reruns I watched when I was a kid. (I know they're still out there, but it seems programming like that is more obscure now.)
