[quote:Nobody... 16697477:MV8yMDU5NzcyXzM0NjUzMDA0XzE2Mzk3NTIx] [quote:Anonymous Coward 27652209:MV8yMDU5NzcyXzM0NjQ3Nzg3X0YwQTQwNkYx] Whenever someone from a disparaged background does well in the educational field it lands a blow on the higher education system. They tell people that you NEED to take X years of school in order to become smart.. when in truth, those who seek knowledge will be able to, using any means (like that african kid who built devices using trash, or people who spend their days in the library who end up learning more than the people who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars listening to an old stiff tell them how to write an essay) Most of our greatest inventors, musicians, writers and artists were all SELF TAUGHT I hope more youth realize that they hold the key to knowledge in their hands and that they don't need to rely on others to shape their destinies
College is the biggest scam ever, as it has nothing to with intelligence. College is just a medium to jump us into the debt game, socialize us, indoctrinate us, teach us to be good employees, teach us to do what we're told, teach us that we're too smart to ascribe ourselves to God, teach us to look down on those who didn't attend college, etc. The smartest people I know did not go to college... The world's richest men either dropped out, or saw it as a waste of time from the beginning. College is just a game that most have to play in order to get that sheep skin, to get a decent job. Obviously, corporate America is in bed with the Universities, as they know their college degree requirement keeps the big business of college profitable. It's that 'you rub my back, I'll rub your back system'. Most of what we learn is obsolete, if we're lucky enough to get a job. Take school teachers for instance, they can't get any respect until they get a Master's degree. They have no clue, they are being coaxed into dishing out more money for an unnecessary degree. Why in the hell does a elementary school teacher need a master's degree? It's no coincidence, that most teachers convey a certain arrogance (the acquisition of a so called higher level degree gives a false sense of importance, I see it all of the time), and they don't know anything. It amazes me.... This child is quite impressive, but he demonstrates the power of curiosity and a willingness to seek his own knowledge (read).
