Rising Sparks
The words of creation Are spoken once forever, Like a star sends its fire Over distance and time
They are falling in order They are burning a border Their letters Scorching senselessness To sign
In our trying, Our crying, Sparks fall down: Sounding from sky, Sounding out ground
In our crying, Our dying, We raise them again: Lifting light to The lightless hearts of men
The words of creation Are spoken new each morning As the sun sends its light When the world turns to see
They are falling like torches Turning prison cells to porches Syllables That set the captives Free
In our trying, Our crying, Sparks fall down: Sounding from sky, Sounding out ground
In our crying, Our dying, We raise them again: Lifting light to The lightless hearts of men
