I just have to say, something is SERIOUSLY WRONG with our society.
Years ago, stores would at 8AM instead of 9AM on black Friday to accomodate customers, and increase profit. Then, they knocked it back to 6 and 7 AM. Then, it was 4 and 5 AM. Last year, lots of stores opened at midnight. This year, it's even worse. Some of them here opened early this Thanksgiving morning, took a quick break for lunch, and will be open all night and tomorrow too.
And, what does this all boil down to? GREED! Businesses will go to ANY length to get that extra dollar, even if it means forcing employees to sacrifice their Thanksgiving with their families, or making them get there at 10 PM to open the store at midnight. It just gets worse and worse. Soon, Thanksgiving will become Black Thursday, and will be completely wiped out!
I thought to myself, customers would find this ridiculous. Boy, was I wrong! The local news showed lines wrapped around parking lots that would put a Michael Jackson concert to shame. These people have had no sleep, and have been standing in the cold for hours...all to get a $5 coupon, or 20% off handtowels. And to make things worse, they're EXCITED to be there! They're peeking in windows, and running and snatching things like bats out of hell when the stores open!!! They fight over items like it's a life or death situation!
I don't know who's crazier...the businesses who stoop to this level, or the shoppers(sheep) who think they can't be happy unless they become slaves to the businesses, acting like crazed hooligans!
