[quote:Anonymous Coward 6459325:MV8yMDYyNzM4XzM0NzAzMDk5Xzg2QTU5NzMz] [quote:Anonymous Coward 25676821:MV8yMDYyNzM4XzM0NzAxNjI0X0I1NjQ4NjdD] I've asked this before, on similar threads.....never get an answer, in fact, often feel like a "thread killer." The thread just DIES after I ask this! Since this thread is still fairly - young - I'm hoping I will get an answer to my (very sincere) question. Here it is: WHAT kind of "event" are you prepping for? I mean, if you are prepping for a natural disaster (think Sandy), then it is a fairly short duration....a month or so. But are you talking about something else? Martial law? Social unrest? Riots? How long before gov't would settle that crap? A month as well? But are you all talking something more severe? EMP? Tsunami? Volcano? Earthquake? WORSE????? Nuclear attack????? HOW LONG are you prepping FOR??? Would a month be long enough? 6 months? ONE YEAR???? And HOW could you possibly know how much prepping is enough for that? I have some food, some tp, lots of water, but I have NO idea what is enough. I'm serious. I would like to know what others consider "prepping complete."
Well, short term preparations are easy to see. Bulk dried food, water purification, emergency supplies... I was thinking of a year or longer. You have land to live off of and be self sufficient, be able to raise your own food and make your own requirements, and be able to defend that against those who wish to take it.
After realizing that this really can't go on like this for much longer, and they really won't, I found that preparing for long term conflict/unrest was the best thing to do. I was wondering how many other people woke to this realization as well, and what are your plans for surviving?
