Should this store be sanctioned for playing by the rules? Or are you saying that these poor folks that most likely are without a car in Houston (grew-up on the Westside, almost impossible without a car there) should carry the groceries a mile home in 95 degree weather? How do you live in Houston Tx with a fucked-up attitude like that? I predict you'll loose your job & transportation next summer and need public assistance to survive. Think of it as a time for personal growth.
Yeah, OP has obviously never tried carrying enough groceries home to actually feed a family. Ah well...they're probably some single government paid stooge.
Um yeah I have. I have lived in Europe. The majority of people, regardless of wealth level, do just that there with no issues. I hauled groceries on a bus many times when I lived across the pond.
According to what is written on the back of the van, they accept EBT and Lone Star card. If you can afford the fee for a grocery delivery service, which I assume is not covered by EBT or Lone Star, then why can't you afford to buy your own groceries without the help of welfare? If grocery delivery fees are covered by EBT or Lone Star then it needs to stop. Having groceries delivered to your house is a luxury.
And before somebody says that some people on Lone Star and/or EBT are old and can't get around or are disabled, there are already services in Houston that deliver groceries to people like that and those services are paid for with donations rather than with the taxpayer funded dole.
If you have money to pay a grocery delivery fee then you could take the bus, that you get to ride on for "free" or at a very discounted rate thanks to the fact that bus fare is subsidized in Houston for poor people and disabled people who qualify for gov assistance, to the grocery store and apply the fee money to your grocery bill.
