[quote:ASV 6943853:MV8yMDYzNDUwXzM0NzQ1NzI3XzYyNzBEQTQ=] Much ado about nothing: 1) UNGA has NO legal autghority to create a state, so the vote is largely symbolic. Only UNSC can do that, and US veto will not allow it. 2) Mahmoud Abbas official presidential term has expired 3 years ago, and he is not even recognized in Gaza. So it's impossible for him to legally represent fictional "Palestinians" 3) PA and PLO, along with Hamas in Gaza, both engage in widespread terror activities, and in incitement to genocide in their schools & media. That violates THE most important principle of UN that the applicant entity for statehood be "peaceful". All easily provable & demonstratable. 4) The League of Nations decision that grants Israel a MUCH bigger state is still legally valid because it's enshrined into the relevant articles of the very founding Charter of its successor, the United Nations. So any Palestinain State within "1967" lines, would make absolutely zero legal or moral sense. 5) UNSC Resolution 242 and its author Eugene Rostow both affirm the right of Jews to build anywhere in the land -- until the 2 sides sit down and negotiate a final-status agreement ---> which Palestinians have refused & avoided every single time. Fact. 6) Such unilateral step by Abbas violates the very letter & spirit of the Oslo Accords (which formed PA on Israeli tax-payer money, incidentally) 7) Netanyahu has been on record as practically begging Abbas to negotiate with no pre-conditions (ie first recognize Israel as Jewish State, etc). Bibi even froze settlement construction, as slow-paced as it is, for almost a year back in 2010 -- much to the dismay of his Right-wing fellow party members. And what did Abbas and Palestinians do as a response to such gesture of good-will? More terror incitement in their kindergardens, more diplomatic/propaganda war against Israel on international arena -- and of course more rockets. All that after Arafat promised to foresake terror as a condition of the Oslo Accords???? LOL, Arab-Muslims sure do honour any agreements and promises they sign, going back to the days of their Prophet Mohammad.... NOT! Israel should annex the so-called "Area C" and unpopulated parts of "Area B" in the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley. Let Palestinians have the small Area A where most of Arabs live. Let them fend for themselves. It's their fault.
Historic.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The Palestinians say the U.N. General Assembly will vote Thursday afternoon on a resolution raising their status at the United Nations from an observer to a nonmember observer state.
There are no vetoes in the General Assembly and the resolution, which needs a majority vote for approval, is virtually certain to be adopted.
