I think we, as human beings have been used to eating meat all of our lives and it would be a shock to our systems to stop cold turkey (no pun intended).... I actually was thinking this very thing this morning as I was frying sausage in the skillet. Meat is my main weakness and I just don't know how I would give it up permanently... THANK YOU for your love for others!:hf:
Truthfully, it isnt that hard to stop eating meat. I am going on three months now. I think you have to be in the right frame of mind, as I tried years ago and failed. The key is to not replace meat with pasta and bread. I do feel "lighter", but have only lost a few pounds. Just can't stomach the suffering of animals anymore. To each his own......follow your own conscience. Peace to you OP:hf:
I think more people seem to be waking up to the idea that the meat most eat nowadays does not come close to having the same amount of nutrients in it that the meat our ancestors ate. I've been a vegetarian for over two years now. I do sometimes eat dairy, but I can tell you with how sick I was, changing the meat out of my diet was a huge part of the problem. I am super sensitive to the hormones they put in meat...so I decided to just cut all of it out and its made a huge difference! I do agree that people need to make their own decision, and if its for health reasons they need to realize that just eating wheat and bread is not a healthy vegetarian diet as well! Its all about balance and getting the proper nutrient levels!
:hf:It seems we are on the same path for the same exact reasons. I gave up store bought meat almost a year ago while I slowly brought myself off all meat including Venison. Everyone around me loves to eat meat so they tempt me. On top of meat I have cut way back on Dairy, and Breads as well. The new lifestyle is exciting because I now try many different fruits and vegetables that I never ate. Eating vegetables and fruit cost much less regardless of what people think. Meat is very expensive compared to natural foods that grow from the earth. You will also save a lot of money by no longer needing a doctor as often. Peace
hey Amy! Its been a while! I have been trying to go low gluten the last few weeks...still up in the air about how I feel about it, but I know many people see some great results from it! I see you tend to lean towards that as well! Hope you have been well, its been a while since we have chatted :)
