I've watched Pat Robertson for a second or 2 while channel surfing for something interesting, but last night I was actually watching for a minute for no reason when he said this...I Sure As Hell noticed what he said but I didn't think anything would come of it. I think his point was quite clear: it isn't in the Bible! No where does it say "the earth is 6000 years old", you have to do a complex calculation that is a made up piece of figuring, like conspiracy theorists adding up the numbers in a date and multiplying it by the years the country has existed and you get the date of D-Day or something. See The Bible Code etc etc. These numerical patterns abound naturally and within large books And you can get backing for Any crackpot idea this way. It might be because in the quantum multiverse every reality variation exists. (Although a universe that is this complex and containing such mature systems after only 6000 Is a stretch.)
Pat Robertson is a nut job. The Bible tells you, starting with Adam, how old the ancestor was when they had their children. You just go back and add up the dates, it comes to around 6,000. Do a little research instead of just blindly accepting things that you want so badly to be true. Then again, you were flipping through channels so I am guessing you don't know how to do any critical thinking of your own. The conspiracy theory is that false-teachers like Pat Robertson add huge gaps between Genesis 1.1 and 1.2 that don't exist anywhere in the Bible, trying to mesh with modern day science.
Do the Christians of this forum have an opinion on this? Its pretty controversial to confront Christian belief of creation. What about when its done by one of your own?
