[/quote] Yes, that is also a standard flight path for an AWACS aircraft. These aircraft in use are on "station" and not flying to a destination at that time. Flight levels are divided by 1000 foot intervals and yes they can be assigned a flight level within an air traffic lane. [/quote] I see AWACS often and they usually fly in the same circle for an hour or so then head of to another destination, never have I seen an AWAC do this. nearest airport is 100 miles away, kept watching they did another 5 more spins.
Even looked on iphone app plane finder, no commercial aircraft above.
