I've been shoeboxing every single bit of extra cash and debating converting it to diamonds or something. Gold seems like a waste since it can just be stolen at a checkpoint or something. Maybe coins, or antiques. Because the time seems to be getting closer every day, as the prison industry gets more and more powerful and laws get more and more tight.

But like sports cards, I'm guessing the book value may be $5,000 but you would be lucky to get $3,500 for it?

Well, keep in mind there will always exist a system of contraband where even the "officials" will want to own hard to find items. There will undoubtedly be an interest in old toys amongst the power elites. Anything rare and valuable is cash. You just have to know how to hide it, how to sell it, and how to keep from having it tortured out of you. You might need someone you can trust to hold them, or several dead drops with incendiary devices to destroy the objects if anyone other than you accesses them as a final fuck you.
