Explosive device rocks downtown Casa Grande Posted: Nov 30, 2012 11:24 AM EST Updated: Nov 30, 2012 12:52 PM EST By Steve Stout - email (Source: CBS 5 News) The explosion happened around 7 a.m. in a building that houses several downtown businesses, including the Social Security Administration at 501 N. Marshall.CASA GRANDE, AZ (CBS5) - An explosion rocked the Social Security Administration building in Casa Grande on Friday morning.
The blast was caused by a device that detonated at the rear of the building, according to Agustin Avalos of the city of Casa Grande Police Department.
The explosion happened around 8:15 a.m. in a building that houses several other downtown businesses. All business were evacuated, Avalos said.
No injuries were reported and the type of device had not been determined, Avalos said.
Officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were en route to take over the scene, Avalos said.
Aerial news footage showed extensive damage to a doorway in the back of the building and to the side of an car near the doorway.
Casa Grande is about 50 miles south of Phoenix.
