[quote:Anonymous Coward 20566260:MV8yMDY5MDI5XzM0ODQ5NTU5X0ZBQUQwQzc3] OP I wanted to share a follow up article I found on this.... http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/03/15643336-seaworld-defends-its-employees-after-dolphin-bites-georgia-girls-hand?lite SeaWorld is defending the actions of its employees in Orlando, Fla., after an 8-year-old girl from Georgia was injured by a dolphin. Jillian Thomas of Alpharetta was participating in the feeding at the dolphin facility Nov. 21. When she held a paper fish container up so the dolphin could grab it, the animal lunged at her and bit her hand. Her father, Jamie Thomas, captured the attack on camera. The video shows the girl’s face contorting in pain as the dolphin briefly grabs her left hand. Jillian suffered three puncture wounds, but her mother said she didn't think park employees took her injuries seriously. In a statement, SeaWorld officials said they addressed the incident appropriately. [/quote]
The incident occurred during a Nov. 21 visit to SeaWorld Orlando. Jillian Thomas was feeding the dolphins fish when she held up her paper tray and said it was empty. That’s when a dolphin lunged out of the water and sank its teeth into Jillian’s arm, pulling her toward the pool before letting go.
Her father, Jamie Thomas, uploaded the footage to YouTube on Saturday, posting, “We wanted to share this video so others can make an informed decision about whether or not the risks to yourself or your child are worth the experience.”
Thomas told WKMG-TV he quickly rushed to his daughter’s side, fearing she’d be pulled into the water.
“We think that attraction at SeaWorld is dangerous and it was traumatic for us to go through that event,” he said. Read more [
