[quote:Anonymous Coward 1130777:MV8yMDY5MjEyXzM0ODIxOTAwXzMwRDE2N0Q0] Television, movies, Internet, and other media has had a much more profound and negative effect than anyone could possibly have imagined. It has drowned out all other morality and it is driven by consumption and materialism. In the old days, you compared yourself to the handful of people around you. Now people compare themselves (and each other) to rock-stars, movie starlets, etc. because these characters they see on their screens are more real to them than the flesh and blood people around them. Most people in a big city don't even know their neighbors anymore. [/quote]
Seriously, it's like they are so judgmental of one another. And most of them that are materialistic are greedy for completely stupid things. They place value in the wrong places and items even. They're so focused on being hip and trendy that they lose focus on what's really important. Things like spending time with loved ones and people who you care about. Things like taking the time to gain a little wisdom every once in a while. And most importantly taking the time and energy into caring! Tell me what you think. Am I right or wrong?
