Interesting, the technique is the same one used in Machu Picchu (which is a combo of cougar-alligator-condor-man), using the topography as canvas. In the game of shadows and light the image appears for the ones with keen eyes, somehow hidden to look as pareidolia. Yet if the image appears as seen from different angles, year after year, it ain't clouds passing by creating an optical illusion. An ignorant alien would use that logic staring Egyptian sphinx from satellite view or buried ruins in Iran with radar images and infrared cameras.
