[quote:Fatstogie:MV8yMDcxODIxXzM0ODcwMTA3XzhGMTQ0Q0Ey] [quote:Anonymous Coward 25616504:MV8yMDcxODIxXzM0ODY5MTIzX0ZBMjc4QzAz] what about coconut butter to simmer in?
Idk about coconut butter but TCH is fat soluble. Butter is used because it has a lot of fat in it. IDK how much fat is in coconut butter. But if you plan to use that make sure it has more fat content than butter does. You want maximum fat content. Also whatever it is that you cook you wanna cook at low temp as THC burns off at higher temperatures. So you wanna cook whatever it is that your baking at 275*F. Also typically people make foods from leaf trimmings. not from actual buds. If you have an ounce of buds that would make quite a bit of butter. Id say 8-10 sticks of butter. The 1 method is to put the butter in water and simmer it in the weed. Then refrigerate and the butter solidifies on top of the water and you dump the water. The reason to use water is that it boils at 212*F, ergo will not burn off the THC. So if you do not use water to simmer the weed and butter in then you will have to watch the temp. If you choose not to use water then the best way is to get a crock pot and put the weed and butter in there without any water. But then you have to pour the butter through the cheese cloth while its hot/warm. But if you keep the crock pot on low it should be not hot enough to really burn you. Also the longer you let it simmer the better. This is why crock pot is prefered method. But you wanna mkae sure its not simmering above... bout 200*F. But in the crock pot you can just leave it on low for however many hours you feel. 2-8 hours. then the butter cools and you just use it as normal butter in any recipe youd like.
