Tensions over the Syria crisis are ratcheting up after NATO announced it will deploy missiles near Turkey's southern border to ward off attacks from Assad's regime.

NATO yesterday stated it will deploy Patriot anti-missile systems in the region to shore up defenses against the threat of cross-border attacks from Syria, bringing the U.S. and its allies closer to the civil war raging between president Bashar Assad's regime and rebel forces.

It has also emerged that the United States military is ready to launch military action 'within days' if the regime uses its chemical weapons reserves.
