Original Message A Pew Research post-election poll found that a majority of young voters who were 18-29 years of age preferred bigger government.

According to the survey, 59% of young voters said “government should do more to solve problems” while only 37% felt “government is doing too many things better left to businesses and individuals.”

Naturally, as a result of these views, young voters not only were more likely to back President Barack Obama, they were also more likely to identify themselves as “Democrats” and “liberals” than older voters.

A plurality of younger voters (44%) said they were Democrats, while 26% said they were Republicans, and 30% claimed they were “independents.”

In addition, a third of young voters described themselves as “liberal," while 41% claimed they were moderate and 26% said they were conservative.

When it came to Obamacare, 34% said the law should be expanded even more, while 19% said it should be kept in place.
