Just a vent post, I guess.
A few houses down, the neighbors put a big Mexican flag up on their front lawn. A couple blocks away, theres a house with a Polish flag on their front lawn.
I feel this goes beyond paying respect for your country of origin. If you are an United States citizen, and you want to hang up a flag, maybe pay respect to your real home country - the one you currently live in, work in, and have oppurtunites in.
I don't mean to sound like I worship the American flag or anything. It just fits in America, after all we are on American soil. The other flags just don't "fit".
I understand there are occasions to wave another country's flag. Polish Constitution Day, Mexican Inderpendence Day, you see a lot of flags put up to pay support. Or even on the grounds of heritage cultural centers. Thats fine.
Just bothers me to see a Mexican flag up down the street and it looks like a permanent fixture. We aren't in fucking Mexico!
