is because of their lack of formal education, to me, this is simply a myth.

In all those fields listed there are countless great men who were considered geniuses and who had NO formal education..the same cannot be said for females.

Where are the female equivalents of Faraday, Ramanujan and Mendel ?

Now that we have given females formal education, things are no better, Females have given the Western world very little scientific or artistic improvements in the last 50 years, all they have done is displaced themselves from the family home which is the real place where they can put their natural abilities to good use.
