I have two Christian sons who have played these games in the past. On occasion, they still do now. One is fine when he plays, the other can become aggressive, angry and curse--so much cursing from a mouth that suppose to belong to God. We've had many arguments over him playing this one specific game that always brings out the worst in him. He realizes it now and stays away from that game.
Call of Duty will do that to the most sane of people. I know some people that almost will have an aneurysm because of this game.
If they have a temper that comes out while playing a video game, then they have a temper period. Something else will likely set it off if they can't even deal with losing on Call of Duty. Maybe the games could be help them learn patience.
So, it sounds like what is being said, is that the games don't produce the violent anger--it's already there. The games just bring it to the surface. :hmm:
Sitting in traffic can also bring anger to the surface. Perhaps we should do something about that? Working in retail can bring anger to the surface when you have to deal with rude, obnoxious customers. Not mention the anger that the shopping experience obviously induces in the customers, which makes them obnoxious to begin with. Perhaps retail should be banned? Waiting in line at McDonald's for 15 minutes only to have them get your order wrong brings anger to the surface. Perhaps fast food should be banned? Marriage can certainly bring anger to the surface. As can disobedient children. Should we eliminate these things from out lives? Maybe these things are showing us something about ourselves we need to work on.:hmm:
Tell me about it--recently, I've learned more patience from driving in my car than anywhere else. Seems like as time passes on, the crazier it gets on the road. I remember the days working in retail, too. Lots more patience was required. Waiting in line--doesn't bother me anymore. I usually try to break the icy looks from everyone else by bringing up a humorous conversation. Marriage--DEFINITELY, a major testing ground for bringing all types of negative emotion to the surface. As a Christian, I see the problem as sin, and the solution as Jesus Christ. I know speaking about my Savior will not sit well with many, but I am just as human as everyone here, but I've come to the realization that I am a sinner. I've had a difficult past, but hopes for a brighter future because He is in my life. When I choose to live life MY way, there will be anger and all those negative feelings. But overtime, they are being weeded out as I choose to live my life His way--His will, not mine, must be done.
Violent video games and a "culture of violence" found in the media could be contributing factors to mass shootings, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said Sunday.
"There might well be some direct connection between people who have some mental instability and when they go over the edge - they transport themselves, they become part of one of those video games," Hickenlooper said on CNN's "State of the Union." "Perhaps that's why all these assault weapons are used."
The Democratic governor argued that some gun regulations need to be tweaked but said more immediate changes can take place by targeting mental health.
