[quote:Anonymous Coward 24918651:MV8yMDg0MjY2XzM1MTAxMzM0XzQ2RDlGQ0Mz] Adults (that are not mentally ill) have a developed enough brain to distinguish fantasy from reality. That's not really the problem here. The problem lies in parents wanting an easy way out because they work 2 or 3 jobs just to have a standard of living anymore; so they let simulated violence in video games babysit and raise their kids for them. If they actually wanted to solve this issue, they'd address the hyperinflation that makes 2 parents working a job or two necessary just to feed their kids. They'd reinforce the traditional family value that a parent stays at home to teach morals and cook good food. Heck, my SO has a pretty good job and can probably keep it up; but just to be able to buy healthy food for our eventual kids at these insane prices will require that I also have a decent career. I'd love nothing more than to be a housewife, but I can't. They paint Feminism with the brush that the main tenant of it is a woman having a societal career, and anything less is dehumanizing these poor, oppressed victims that would otherwise be pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen. This means I get called misogynist by my 20 something year old female friends that insist, "I AIN'T NO BABY INCUBATOR" when I merely inform them that yes, that is their biological function, whether they like it or not. They scream this label at me as I try to explain that society is making pregnancy and childbirth look like some point in your life where, "Everything is ruined!" They call me a misogynist just for expressing that I'd like to be a housewife, and here I thought feminism was about choice and empowering women! We certainly won't do that by completely ignoring our biological and social functions as mothers. These are the kind of women who grow up to go to college, have a career, and despite their insistence they aren't babymakers and never will be, biology inevitably catches up with them. They want to care for their children and they want to do good for them, but society and the tenants of modern feminism has completely left them in the dark about such knowledge. So instead, these women, often not unfamiliar with video games themselves, find no problem with an electronic babysitter. Easy peasy. [/quote]

Violent video games and a "culture of violence" found in the media could be contributing factors to mass shootings, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said Sunday.
"There might well be some direct connection between people who have some mental instability and when they go over the edge - they transport themselves, they become part of one of those video games," Hickenlooper said on CNN's "State of the Union." "Perhaps that's why all these assault weapons are used."
The Democratic governor argued that some gun regulations need to be tweaked but said more immediate changes can take place by targeting mental health.
