During a routine 911 call to investigate reports of a suspicious-looking vehicle, two police officers were shot dead in the parking lot of a local grocery store last night in Topeka, Kansas.
A gunman is said to have opened fire on the two officers from inside the vehicle fatally wounding both and leaving a third officer unharmed.
Officers David Gogian, 50, and Jeff Atherly, 29 were taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.
'It's clearly beyond words. It's unspeakable almost about why this happens and why this is happening in America at this stage in our history,' Miller said. [
