Original Message During a routine 911 call to investigate reports of a suspicious-looking vehicle, two police officers were shot dead in the parking lot of a local grocery store last night in Topeka, Kansas.

A gunman is said to have opened fire on the two officers from inside the vehicle fatally wounding both and leaving a third officer unharmed.

Officers David Gogian, 50, and Jeff Atherly, 29 were taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.
