Perhaps the dog remembered the Christmas tree scene. Anyway, you might want to nip that kind of behavior in the bud. If you took the tree down simply because you don't like the tree idea, then fine. However, if you did it because the dog was barking and growling at it, and they wouldn't stop even after you told them to be quite, then the dog does not recognize your authority in the home. That could grow into a huge problem down the road. Or maybe there was a Gremlin in your tree. In any event, Happy Holidays! :wolfflowers:
That's what I was thinking, better to let the dog be upset...show the dog there's nothing to be afraid of, and let him get over it. BTW, cute wolf pic!
Maybe your dog read the bible!and decided to follow God The Book of Jeremiah Chapter 10 1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Interesting but totally irrelevant as it describes totems of animals.
not irrelevant, as we are not supposed to have christmas trees at all.
The tree - as much as i didn't want to erect one - has been up for two weeks. Today i finalized my Christmas shopping and wrapping of all that was purchased (which wasn't much, i tell ya. 8 whole boxes). I piled the presents under the tree and my dog started barking and growling and looking at the tree (not below where the presents were) and wouldn't let up. Even when treats were offered and walks outside, he wouldn't stop staring at the tree and growling/barking.
finally, i had to take down the whole tree and put the wrapped presents in a closet.
weird....
of course, this is his first Christmas.
And, i am not a big fan of Christmas trees, etc, anyway.
but, for my kids i relent.
i lost my mother a couple months ago.
i wonder if she's haunting us?
i mean he was staring at the middle of the tree as soon as i put the gifts under it. it wasn't the boxes under, it was the fact that the tree was different.
