Several people have provided good info here for you OP. Unfortunately it's not as black and white as you or anyone else would like, it's complex and can be caused by any number of things, and like anything else there are varying different degrees of how bad it is. I have it 24/7, and was hospitalised with it a lot as a child, and the only thing that prevents it from manifesting is nowadays is good long-term preventative drugs taken on a daily basis. Hopefully they don't have it severe or chronic, and it's shortlived. :hf: [/quote] however, psychosomatic illnessses, such as hyperventilation (never heard of asthma being termed psychosomatic), do originate in the psyche, which then manifest physically. but will not kill you. you can't die from a panic attack, you can from a heart attack. you can't die from hyperventilation, you can die from an asthma attack. see the difference? i will say that i think that asthma is a reaction that occurs in the brain, not the lungs, as a response to that which people may have allergies to. or stress, even. so either the stress or the allergen--whether that be fragrance, cat dander, smoke, etc-- it flips the switch inside the brain and begins the attack. anyways...just take the kids to the doctor and get to the bottom of it, how bout that. i mean, lets be real, this isn't some government conspiracy thread, this is about children's health. stop messin around. Edit December 24 2012:
Thank you for all of your helpful posts.
The problem solved at one of the children by a more thorough cleaning of the humidifier and she filled it up with apple-cider vinegar solution.
Next night went without any symptoms, and so it go since.
The other 2 kids will try apple cider vinegar, too.
