The average person spends 7-8 hours a day sleeping.
A DAY.
7-8 hours of every day most people don't remember, and probably arnt bothered about because they want mental / physical rest. But in my experience if im woken at any point sleeping I can usually remember something, so clearly my mind is not resting.. although it feels like it is? You may say that's because your conscious mind is at rest and that it's subconscious emotions thoughts etc being processed.
It does not feel like that to me. There is usually an all emcompassing emotional feel and the events and images that take place in most cases have no connection to my waking life. Revisiting places and scenarios that are of a world of their own.
So I ask you.. to share your thoughts / ponderances and insights on sleep and any unique experiences or memories you have, that DON'T fit the mainstream beliefs. What have you been doing roughly 1/3 of your ENTIRE life?
