[quote:Anonymous Coward 21344862:MV8yMDkyNDYxXzM1MjI4NjYwXzhCNUZFMDAy] [quote:Anonymous Coward 24545480:MV8yMDkyNDYxXzM1MjI1NDExXzQyRjc0QUUw] We need to end social security right NOW. These people need to work. If they cannot work then their family needs o support them. It is as simply as that. No more handouts. No more free ride. [/quote] You are dumber than shit. Social Security is not a benefit it is an absolute right. Social Security was 100%+ solvent up until YOUR thieving mug of a government dipped its black evil hands in the once plush pot and stole the money with the every present promise of repayment and "don't worry, we are from the government and here to help you." Just a little research on your part (and others screaming igorantly with the same voice) would show that the amountof money paid in by just the average guy/woman over the course of a working life, say 30 years, and with just a typical savings return would, at a minimum, tripled in that time. I paid in the maximum every year for over 30, dip shit, and if i live to be 90 i would not have recouped what i paid in and would have received if i had been able to invest it for myself. Screw you. According to the AARP, "A typical 80-year-old woman will lose the equivalent of three months worth of food annually" under this plan.
This is a bad deal for current retirees. And it'll hit future retirees even harder, because the proposal cuts Social Security more and more with each passing year. After 10 years, benefits would be cut by about $500 a year for the average retiree. After 20 years, benefits would be cut by about $1,000 a year. And beyond that, it just gets worse.
