And exactly what damages has he sustained as a result of this "Petition"...and what lies were told in the text of the "Petition"?!?!?
I recommend you read this if you don't think this has hurt his public image remember there is always a fine line between what constitutes slander and or libel. Libel - 1.Law. a.defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures. b.the act or crime of publishing it. c.a formal written declaration or statement, as one containing the allegations of a plaintiff or the grounds of a charge. Slander - 3. Law. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc. The first amendment is important... but you can't use a right guaranteed to you by the constitution to infringe upon the rights that others are guaranteed by it. I would imagine that having nasty lies spread about you might hinder your rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... mostly the last one. The first amendment is important... but you can't use a right guaranteed to you by the constitution to infringe upon the rights that others are guaranteed by it. I would imagine that having nasty lies spread about you might hinder your rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
And, in typical lawyer fashion, you didn't answer either of my quesitons... What damages has he sustained, what lies were told, and also, how does his work visa being revoked and him going home to the country of his birth affect his right to free speech?!?!?
Some possible damages Mr. Piers Morgan could have sustained are. Tarnished reputation Loss of credibility Loss of viewership Public opinion ruined Loss of income Other emotional losses etc Lies that were told: He tried to subvert the second amendment. He is anti-American He hates America's rights and freedoms etc Of course this is all speculation and I only outline some of the possible losses Piers could have sustained and only Mr.Morgan himself knows how this petition has hurt him changed the view of the public on him.
 Have you listened to what Piers Morgan has said about gun owners and the 2nd Amendment...perhaps they should be the ones filing the liable suit...
Here is the exact text of the Petition... British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens. I would say everything said in that petition can be backed up by hours upon hours of footage from Piers Morgan's very own television show... And there is not a single lie or defamatory word there...
Original Message
More than 70,000 people have signed a petition calling for British CNN host Piers Morgan to be deported from the U.S. over his gun-control views.
Morgan has taken an aggressive stand for tighter U.S. gun laws in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. Last week, he called a gun advocate appearing on his "Piers Morgan Tonight" show an "unbelievably stupid man."
Now, gun-rights activists are fighting back. A petition created Dec. 21 on the White House e-petition website by a user in Texas accuses Morgan of engaging in a "hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution" by targeting the Second Amendment and demands he be deported immediately.
