Original Message Someone I am close to is heavily involved in AA and their life revolves around it. Anyone else had this experience? They 'need' to go to meetings, they say, daily. It's a cult which encourages harmful thinking, such as powerlessness and the idea of alcoholism as being incurable. I've been to pick up someone I know from meetings and I get a bad feeling in my gut about many of the members. Many AA members are felons and predators. I don't believe alcoholism is something which is incurable, contrary to the nonsense AA teaches.
