Original Message Ham Radio Operators - What is the best hand held unit to buy? I'd like some input, doing some research before I go buy one and get my license. Would like hand held for the bug out bag and maybe just for hiking. Also would like one that runs on AA or AAA batteries if possible, as those are the batteries I can recharge with my solar charger.
