[quote:Anonymous Coward 3738979:MV8yMDk2NDM1XzM1MzExOTAyXzcxQTZFMUM0] Multiculturalism has always existed because many different cultures have always existed, it just depends on how you define it. If you were to visit Japan you could see the attractions, meet the people, sample the local cuisine, and return home bringing a little piece of Japan with you forever. That would be a wonderful thing, that's diversity, that's open-mindedness, that's multiculturalism. If on the other hand, you and 25 million people with my particular ethnic and cultural background all moved into Japan simultaneously then demand to be integrated into the Japanese economy, demand to be integrated into their neighborhoods, demand to be integrated into their school systems, demand our language to be integrated with theirs, demand to marry Japanese mates and demand to be represented proportionally in the Japanese Government then it becomes a problem. That wouldn't necessarily be a constructive thing for Japan as a whole. Japan as an entity isn't defined by it's borders, it's defined by the people of that country. And for you and 25 million of your friends to place this demand upon them wouldn't necessarily be perceived by them as a positive thing. Because we would be proposing to change their country irrevocably. The word by it's very definition means "More than one culture," so it means to "Introduce" something into a place, and the people of that place might not necessarily dislike you personally, but they might resent what you're introducing. They might view it as a violation of their own rights, perhaps of their very existence.
Japan is probably 90% or more Japanese. There's no "karma" for wiping out the indegenous Ainu who were probably Caucasoid. Why isn't Japan diversified like Europe or the USA?
