Original Message Ok, folks. I'm off to get my 'legacy' driver's license renewal. It will be interesting to see how many people at the BMV opt for the new 'safe ID' which is really the 'real ID' just goes by another name, costs more and will be sent to a centralized location in CA for processing -- that sounds real safe to me - HA! Anything centralized screams of various opportunities for fraud and ID theft.

Hopefully, by the time 2017 rolls around, the idea of a Real ID will have died a natural death and people won't be so afraid to live a free men and not ID-carded things not people.

Also, plan to do research on which states said a big 'NO' to the real ID - would like to relocate to one of them.

Interestingly, that people born after 1964 won't have a choice in the matter - guess they know that only older folks have a concept of freedom and the younger people will ignorantly embrace the false sense of security that a centralized database of your and your features (does not ) give.
