Nothing more frustrating than digging through boxes looking for something you shouldn't have packed yet...
Yes, I am keeping this in mind.
Have a box designated for just those things you'll need within the next day or so after you get to your new place, such as coffee pot, coffee, sugar, powdered creamer, razor, towel, soap, hairbrush, clean underwear, tools for assembling furniture, pillow, etc. The color coding idea previously mentioned is great. Use specific colors for each area or room in the house. You can buy colored stickers or use colored marking pens. If anyone is helping you be sure they know the color codes. Tape a piece of paper with the proper color on each door or on a large wall for open areas. When you label a box, write on the ends-- not the top. When boxes are stacked up you can't see the tops. Make notes to yourself regarding which boxes certain important items are in if it would be helpful. It's easier than writing a long list on the side of the box.
Ok, moving out of a one bedroom apartment to house.
I've got a lot of shit.
Packing right now. Trying to do at least 3-4 boxes each night.
Any tips or suggestions?
I'm making an inventory of boxes and contents on my iPad and trying to group like items together to the room they are going into.
I move at the end of the month.
