Anyway,I understand conflicts over big islands but its really retarded we had a conflict over a fuckin piece of rock called Kardak back in 90's
Yeah they are ridiculously close. The islands were given to Greece coz they were almost entirely populated by Greeks, only 2 islands that Turkey got, Imvros and Tenedos were too almost entirely Greek population and surprise surprise they were completely ethnically cleansed by the fascist state in the 60's that unleashed convicts with an open prison in the island that terrorized the local population. Also don't forget what the plan was back then in the first place, Asia Minor was supposed to be given back to Greece and Istanbul and the straits would become international, but the Bolshevik revolution changed the allies plans and opted for a strong Turkey instead that would be able to hold the communist threat away. Imia/Kardak supposedly are rich in resources, but i do agree that TPTB made billions by slowly feeding this conflict. Almost half of the Greek debt went to weapons all these years, i imagine something similar happened with the Turkish debt too.
Population exchange was a retarded thing to do.Thousands of Rums -i.e Greek speaking Christian Anatolians- forced to left their rightful homes as well as thousands of muslim Balkanian people from Greece...All due to retarded fascistic policy of homogenization. There were even Christian people of Turkish descent (i.e Karamanlis ) forced to settle in Greece just because they were Christian... Greek govt government seems to have decided to submit coordinates for the outer limits of the Greek continental shelf to the United Nations in the first months of 2013. On June 9th 1995, the Turkish parliament officially declared that unilateral action by Greece would constitute a casus belli.
