Original Message
Since the Enlightenment period the term liberal, from what I gather, has become known to mean essentially what I would describe as a non-selfish libertarian. It looks like the word liberty is the foundation of the term, yet these days it seems there are segments of the population that have come to be nauseous when they hear the word liberal. Why is this so? I am a bit confused as to this seemingly-illogical reaction to a word that I would assume GLP would embrace proudly.
