TWO of Britain’s biggest supermarkets were reeling last night after horsemeat was found in top-selling beefburgers.
Horses for courses ... burgers have been withdrawn
Tesco withdrew all its own-label burgers, including the Finest range, from UK stores.
It came after food inspectors in Ireland discovered one batch of frozen Tesco Everyday Value burgers in which 29 PER CENT of the meat content was horse.
And last night frozen food chain Iceland withdrew two quarter-pounder burger lines from its British and Irish stores “pending further investigation”.
