Can't find any more up to date links about this, but part of the Vauxhall regeneration site includes the new US Embassy:
"Two skyscrapers have been proposed for Vauxhall as developer CLS hopes to capitalise on the multi-billion pound regeneration in the area fuelled by the new US Embassy.
Further building plans have been announced for the area around the new US Embassy site in London. CLS has said it expects to submit planning permission in late 2011 for two mixed-use towers of over 40 storeys at the Vauxhall Cross site.
The site is opposite Vauxhall Tube station and close to the new US Embassy and Battersea Power Station redevelopments. Last year the United States has unveiled plans for its new $1 billion high-security embassy in London — the most expensive it has ever built."

(Good job the flames didn't spread further - MI6 headquarters is only a couple of hundred yards on the same road)
