Original Message Authorities say a man accused of stabbing a New Jersey woman in a store was previously charged with torturing a cat to death.

The woman, whose name was not released, is in critical condition.

Haynes is held on $1 million bail, charged with attempted murder.

[Tyrik Haynes] was accused of torching the cat to death on Christmas Eve.

Haynes had adopted the cat from a Petco store adjacent to Bed Bath & Beyond. Amato says he was spotted outside the Petco store on Monday.
