Dear Dr. Perliger;

Having read your recent publication on right wing violence, as well as your resume, I offer the following thoughts.

First, with all due respect to your homeland of Israel, a nation that I support wholeheartedly, I find that you are misplaced in your current position at West Point. What strikes me most about your recent publication is not so much the data, but the tone of the publication. I could tell, right away, from the tone of the piece that you were not born and raised in America, even before reading your resume and biography.

You clearly do not understand the nature of American politics, nor the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and it is also clear that your affinity to America is tenuous, at best. You describe American Nationalism as if it is some sort of distant and counter-productive emotion. Is that really an appropriate attitude for someone working at an institution that upholds "Duty, Honor, Country" as its inspirational motto? Respectfully, sir, I say that it is not.

Second, your description of the Oklahoma bombing was superficial, at best. There is only a cursory and superficial mention of the events at Waco, TX and Ruby Ridge, ID; which were the catalysts of the Oklahoma City Bombing. Indeed, it is clear to all Americans who know the truth about the events at Waco that the federal government was the original aggressor and that the government lied about the events there, covering up numerous crimes committed by federal troops and agents there.

What happened at Waco was nothing short of an "atrocity" implemented by the United States Government. At Waco, the federal government not only murdered and burned innocent Americans without a trial, but, in so doing, it violated most of the Bill of Rights, not to mention widely accepted rules of evidence collection, in the process. Is it any wonder that anti-federalism is growing in this post-Waco environment?

The American Bill of Rights is not some voluntary and strange ideology as the language of your publication suggests. It is, rather, the foundational core of a civilized government. It is not something that can be tossed aside, at will, even by a U.S. President! The only way to legitimately change the Bill of Rights in this country is by the peaceful vote of 3/4's of the State Legislatures. Unless and until that happens in America, any attempt to label those who stand up for the Bill of Rights as a "fringe group" is disingenuous, at best. More appropriately, your attempts to isolate and marginalize those who stand up for the Bill of Rights should be described as a "witch hunt."

Finally, your superficial attempt to link the American Right with Hitler's Nazi movement is very poorly substantiated and totally misses the mark. There are many more similarities between Hitler's Nazi movement and the left wing of American politics than with the right. Indeed, one of Hitlers first moves, upon his appointment to the Chancellery of Wiemar Germany, was to abolish the rights of German citizens to protest against his government. He shut down the Free Press of the Germany People; and he instituted complete gun control over the population!

In modern America, it is the left that supports these kinds of policies. Between Eric Holder's witch hunt against innocent gun rights activists and Senator Udall's proposed Constitutional Amendment that would effectively erase the Freedom of the Press from the U.S. Constitution, today's Democrats are the ones wearing the Swastika's.

Those of us on the right, on the other hand, who strenuously argue for gun rights and the rest of the Bill of Rights are trying to prevent the left from acting like Hitler acted. We are trying to prevent another Waco and OKCity bombing, simply by asking that the Bill of Rights be respected, as both Adolph Hitler and Bill Clinton neglected to do during their reigns.

Indeed, most on the right are descendant from and/or very proud of the American Patriotism that fought tooth and nail against Nazi Germany during the Second World War; and we are not just a little bit insulted by your smears. Adding insult to injury is that fact that you have personally derived so much benefit from the very American Nationalism that you attack. American Patriotism won World War 2 and spawned your homeland of Israel, where you received your education.

Let me conclude by saying, proudly, that I am a self-identified anti-federalist, myself. But, I am not racist. My very own extended family is multi-racial. And, I am not anti-semitic. Although we have not found any Jewish ancestors, going back as far as the late 1600's, there may even be some Jewish blood in my line further back than that. And, I have worked closely and successfully in a multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-ethnic, & multi-national scientific research lab as well as during my undergraduate years at Harvard University.

My anti-federalism has nothing to do with white supremacy, Christianity, or any of the other ideological strains that you attempt to link it to in your publication. Rather, my anti-federalism is driven more by my belief in the importance of the Bill of Rights in maintaining a check on the power of government over its people and by pride in the principles upon which this country was founded, which are unique and sacred in the history of the human race.

The American system of government is founded on the principles of freedom and liberty. In practice, freedom and liberty are protected by a complicated system of checks and balances, which includes the individual right to bear arms as "being necessary for the security of a free State." The only instruction given by the Second Amendment to the federal government is that it "shall not infringe" on this important right.

Those of us on the right, who protest loudly against Obama's policies, have not only the right to protest, but some would say, the duty to do so. For someone in your position to deny the importance of the Bill of Rights in this country is quite frightening to Americans who understand its purpose in society. Indeed, by doing so, you only fuel the flames of Anti-Federalism even further. If your goal is to reduce anti-federalism in this country, then the best place to start is with the federal government itself, not the People of this country or their Constitutional Rights.

Make the federal government smaller and make it more consistent with the Bill of Rights, and you will find that anti-federalism declines quite rapidly. Of this, there can be no doubt. And, I suggest, respectfully sir, that we begin with YOU.

I request that you resign your position at West Point.
