He is a young man, devoted to his vocation, having given up everything to follow God's will for him.
He is being transferred to another town, for a few more years, then probably Africa. We had a farewell Mass and dinner for him, at the local Indian curry restaurant, and he spoke about being grateful for all we have here, and how his fellow priests in Africa suffer malaria and live in huts with no electricity.
I have only recently met him, but apparently he said Mass in bare feet, and in the washing of feet ceremony, he not only washed his parishioners' feet, but kissed them.
It is men like him, who are the strongest, undeniable living testimony, to the reality of the Holy Spirit being active in the world.. their acts of faith and devotion in choosing to become priests amaze and humble me.
