How would you know how such a thing would look like? Hollywood movies are not a tech reference. :book: [quote:World_TV_Watcher:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NjQzXzQwMTRGQkVF] What's going on with the massive north western European debunking?
Don't you want to know what it is? You prefer fantasy? [quote:World_TV_Watcher:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NjQzXzQwMTRGQkVF] Halcyon Dayz, i'm still waiting for the Apollo 11 communication data rates and error correction protocols...
Have you tried NASA? [quote:World_TV_Watcher:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg2MjAyX0ZFN0Y2RTJC] Object seems to be too big to be junk, and the images with the lights doesn't look like debris
So how big is it, and aren't those just reflections? :book: [quote:Don't let them get you:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NjczXzZCMzlBODJE] [quote:Halcyon Dayz, FCD:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NDkyXzgxMzk2MTVC] Most Earth observation satellites are in NEAR polar orbits. It's the sole reason of existence for the launch facility at Vandenburg AFB. :book:
corrected it for you
One degree off isn't polar enough for you? You wouldn't want all the orbits to cross at one point, increases the chance of collision. Why does everybody think there is something magical about polar orbits? It just has a higher energy requirement than eastward orbits. :book: [quote:Dutch Coward 32129936:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NzU5X0I4MTg0OTg2] [quote:Halcyon Dayz, FCD:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NDkyXzgxMzk2MTVC] The object in the picture is NOT in a polar orbit, the existence of the picture itself proofs it.
Nonsense, polar and equatorial orbits can cross each other.
Only at very high speeds. [quote:Dutch Coward 32129936:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NzU5X0I4MTg0OTg2] [quote:Halcyon Dayz, FCD:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NDkyXzgxMzk2MTVC]Any object in a polar orbit would have swooped by at 7 klicks per second
It's a photographic screenshot, not a vid.
It's a photograph. Made on ordinary Kodak colour film. So NOT with a superfast shutter. If it were moving at such high speeds you'd get a streak at best. There's no indication of movement at all. And there are 6 photographs of it, I.E. it didn't move much between shots. [quote:Dutch Coward 32129936:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NzU5X0I4MTg0OTg2] [quote:Halcyon Dayz, FCD:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NDkyXzgxMzk2MTVC]There are several pictures and they are more or less in focus, i.e. the object's orbit closely matches that of the Orbiter. Most parsimonious explanation is that the object is something that came of the Orbiter.
Parsimonius indeed.
You don't like parsimony? It's a very useful intellectual tool. [quote:Dutch Coward 32129936:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NzU5X0I4MTg0OTg2] [quote:Halcyon Dayz, FCD:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NDkyXzgxMzk2MTVC]I think it's rather small and close to the camera. IOW space debris. Just as the caption reads: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/scripts/sseop/photo.pl?mission=STS088&roll=724&frame=66 :book:
I think it's rather big and clicks away.
On what grounds? [quote:Dutch Coward 32129936:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg0NzU5X0I4MTg0OTg2] If and when it's in a polar orbit is up for debate.
It's not, for the reasons I mentioned. The thing in the pictures is not the BKS, if there exists such a thing. :book: [quote:Swedish Coward 29898248:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg1MjI2X0Q5OTE2NzVF] Question is, why would NASA leak this picture on their own server no less..????
"The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth" http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov is where you can request downloads of pretty much every picture ever taken of Earth from space by NASA astronauts. They got more than a million so they're not all hosted online but can be requested from the archives. So it's not a leak, it's a feature. And they obviously don't think they've got any secrets to keep. :book: [quote:Dr. Charles Norris:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg1NTc3X0Q2QUVCNTA4] IS IT JUST ME OR DOES THAT NOT EVEN LOOK LIKE EARTH IN ALL THOSE PICTURES???
Yes, it's just you. [quote:Dr. Charles Norris:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg1NzI0XzMxNTRDNDk5] earth isnt that color
Never seen a sunset? :book: [quote:Anonymous Coward 32544514:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg1ODM4XzJBQTVGRUNF] Where in the world is this? http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/sseop/images/ISD/highres/STS088/STS088-724-41_3.JPG
That's Laguna Colorado in Bolivia's Altiplano. :book: [quote:Ostria1:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg2NjAyX0Y5NzZDNkY3] well i found the launch of Corona, Discoverer 5, 1959 [..]
The CIA Corona programme was classified at the time, and used the USAF's Discovery programme as a cover. The exposed films were indeed returned to Earth in little re-entry capsules. They are all gone now, in LEO there's still enough air molecules wandering around to slowly deorbit everything up there. The ISS has to have its orbit boosted every six months or so. :book: [quote:Anonymous Coward 32503949:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg2OTI0XzI5N0Y0NjdE] [quote:Anonymous Coward 25781251:MV8yMTE2MTExXzM1Njg2ODQ5XzU2Rjc3MQ==] Its all right on their website. Nothing is hidden: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/ look under STS088-724-66 to find the pic or just got to page 28 and see them all. The caption says it is space debris.
space debris, yeah right.....do you beliebe in NASA?
I do believe it exists, yes. They are the source of these images. :book:
You are full of shit
