I'm calling your bullshit right now, right fucking here!
6 days first term, 3 last. 9 total. 14 is the max. Why would I make this up?
Well 9 day's is a fuckin lot! and this is ONLY JAN!!!
Yeah and kids get sick. Especially this time of year.
Yeah I got 3 kids they miss too, but never that damn much!
Idk, what 180 days of school and being around a bunch of runny nosed, fever ridden kids? Good god, there's ring worm, lice, flu, colds, pink eye, you name it. Can't believe they aren't out more than this!
I know all parents deal with child sickness in their own way but my wife and I keep the kids home 24hrs of having no fever. It at least gives other kids the chance of not getting sick.
That I agree with, but damn, you can't keep them home every time they get a little cold!
They should stay home if they are vomiting, have diarrhea, or a fever. Or pink eye, severe cough (pre-antibiotic) or whenever else you, as a parent, would rather keep your sick child home than send them to school.
Yep. And when they are so young, it's crazy. I've kept my little one home when she had a nasty cold and no fever. She just looked beat. Screw that. So she misses the alphabet one day. And I'm friends with some of the teachers, and under their breath, very quietly for fear of being exterminated, they say they don't blame me. They would too. So, nevertheless, it boils own to... They are YOUR children. And as long as you aren't neglectful or irrational, you should be able to keep them home if you feel it's necessary! They can all SUCK it! Again, can't wait to get out of the system! And yes, I'll homeschool next year if needed, otherwise one more year and we are out!
Several of my friends are teachers and they are so fed up. Every day it is another new rule or addition to the curriculum. Many feel like all they ever do now is "teach to the test" and so many kids just start hating school. Then on top of that they have to deal with sick kids - too sick really to be in school, but not sick enough to risk missing a school day. It's sad because kids are natural learners, they may not love memorizing and such, but they love to explore and talk about things and think about things. My oldest absolutely hated school (not the teacher's fault) but once home, we realized that he actually likes to learn. Reminds me of Einstein's quote "The only thing that interfered with my learning was my education" LOL
That is totally the truth. I love what the little genius kid (Jacob Barnett) said, "when Einstein and newton stopped learning and started thinking, is when they started creating".
Do 'they' want kids to be sick or what?? My 8 year old 2nd grader brought home a letter from his principal threatening JUVENILE PROBATION for my son and a misdemeanor charge for me if he continued to miss school due to illness. He missed 3 days last semester!!! And he's 8 fucking years old. I know their funding is directly related to attendance... So I guess the remaining public educators DO care more about $$$ than the kids.
Homeschooling is looking better and better every fucking day.
