Errr how do you use poke berries? They're poisonous unless cooked and even then they can make you sick.

Re the topic, my professor of microbiology quizzed the class on day one, and said, "How many of you believe we'll be using antibiotics in 20 years?" Everyone but me raised their hands. Then he asked me my name and asked why, and I explained it was an old method and by then we'd have genomics or other alternatives like combining essential oils like they're doing in England with MRSA. He said, "Quite right. The rest of you are wrong."

He's a noted lecturer and teacher and gets complex cases from across the USA.

EDIT: By the way, the most likely situation would be to add antibiotics together like a cocktail. That makes for tough resistance to bacteria adaptation. It won't last long though. We've overprescribed antibiotics for decades.

Because a lot of herbs contain thousands of phytochemicals versus an antibiotic, then maybe we might be able to keep using them since there's too many for the bacteria to adapt to. We especially might be able to do things like combining grapefruit seed (but problems with existing medicines sensitive to cytochrome P450), with olive leaf.

A lot of antibiotics interfere with some crucial aspect of replication. Those are called mechanisms of action in pharmacology. See this link for a basic explantion. I'm sure a lot of you are preppers (like me) who might have fish to treat (ahem).
